With Congressional approval at historic lows it is no surprise that politics has gone from a subject that once promoted good discussion and positive change to one of bitter arguments and polarizing gridlock.
Out of frustration with the existing political system, more and more Americans are looking for viable alternatives. In states like Massachusetts, independents now represent the majority of voters. Declaring independence from the current parties is only the beginning however. To be effective, independents will need to organize a major movement that presents innovative and practical solutions to the major policy challenges before us. Just like the Founders before us we need to revolutionize the way government operates, and it begins with fixing the political system that selects our leaders and defines their platform.
There are a growing number of political alternatives, but most are either based on fringe ideologies or operate the same way as the major two parties. Recognizing that no established party was capable of promoting revolutionary yet practical change, in 2012 our Founder, Bruce Skarin, established the Foundation Party.
Transparency, Independence, and Diversity
The Foundation Party is the only party committed to redesigning politics from the ground up based on the principles of transparency, independence, and diversity. Using these core principles we are building a new political system that is both modern and truly representative of its members. A system that is dependent upon the people alone and that will continuously improve the policies used by our leaders.
As a party based on process, our members are free to maintain their own priorities, while making sure that their voice is heard and represented in Congress. The result is a platform that is truly independent, that reflects the priorities set by all of us, and that is based on the best possible research.
Building a new political system won't be easy, but it is also clear that we can ill afford to continue the course set by current politics. It has been over 150 years since the Republican Party was established and over 180 since the "modern" Democratic Party was formed. Now is precisely the time to try something new and innovative.
To move these ideas forward Bruce is prepared to run in 2014 to represent Massachusetts in the United States Senate. So if you think now is the time to take a different approach, support Bruce and give us one year to show you what truly independent problem solving can do.
The larger movement
The Foundation Party supports all other organizations committed to fixing politics. One of the larger goals is to win at least six United States Senate seats, which would provide real leverage in one our nation's most powerful institutions. The vision for achieving this goal is best described by Charles Wheelan in The Centrist Manifesto. Below is a preview of his concise summary of why politics is broken and the strategy for those of us caught in the middle for uniting to create a better government. We also support Massachusetts independent candidate for Governor Evan Falchuk.
